NLP
Neuro-Linguistic Programming is sometimes described as an owner's manual for the brain. It looks at how we process information that our brains receive from our senses, and how we create a model of the world around us.
The neuro part of the name comes from neurology and how our senses work.
The linguistic part comes from the language (and non-verbal communication) we use to order our thoughts and behaviour and to communicate with others.
The programming part looks at our repetitive behaviours and actions.
NLP assumes that everyone has their own unique model of the world – and that they are the expert on their model. NLP is about finding ways that individuals can make changes and improve problem issues and attitudes. It uses techniques, metaphors, questions, and models to help people learn about their particular ways of dealing with the world and using that knowledge to give them more understanding of how to be more effective and improve their life.
The co-founders of NLP were Richard Bandler and John Grinder, who studied Gestalt psychologist Fritz Perls and therapist Virginia Satir to discover what words and sentence structures seemed to be the most effective with clients. From this they produced their 'meta model', which also derived in part from the work of linguist Noam Chomsky.
From studying the work of Milton Erickson they derived the 'milton model' which was more metaphorical than the meta model.
Well-known NLP terms and techniques include 'anchoring', 'reframing', 'submodalities', 'swish', 'perceptual positions', and 'representational systems'.
Trevor Eddolls is an NLP master practioner. He has learned specific skills and patterns necessary to help others to: make positive changes; create new choices; be more effective with others; break free of old habits, self-destructive patterns, and behaviours; and think more clearly about what it is they want and how to get it.
Using these NLP techniques, Trevor can help you to take control of your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.
